Gordon Maclean

Gordon Maclean was interested in watercolours from an early age, but did not develop his interest until 2003 when he started painting as a hobby. His themes derive from his travels and sojourns in different parts of the world, including South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, the United States, Australia and Austria, as well as an interest in the flora of southern Africa. Gordon exhibited and sold paintings in Pietermaritzburg, Durban, the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Montagu and Tsumeb (Namibia).

Gordon is probably best known as a respected authority on South African and arid zone birds. He authored the fifth and sixth editions of Roberts' Birds of southern Africa and collaborated on the Roberts' Multimedia CD-ROM.
